Description

Crispy and flavorful Air Fryer Frozen Chicken Wings are a quick and easy appetizer or snack that requires no thawing. Simply air fry the wings straight from the freezer with olive oil and seasoning, then toss in your favorite BBQ sauce and finish with a short cook to caramelize the sauce. Perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, these wings are ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Wings

  • 1 pound frozen chicken wings
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Sauce

  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce or any wing sauce you love

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F. Preheating helps the wings get crispy right from the start. If your model lacks a preheat button, let it run empty for 3 to 4 minutes.
  2. Prepare Wings: Take the wings straight from the freezer without thawing or rinsing. Place them in a single layer in the air fryer basket. If some are stuck together, that’s okay; they will separate during cooking. Drizzle the wings with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Toss gently to evenly coat.
  3. Initial Air Fry: Air fry the wings at 400°F for 10 minutes. Open the basket and use tongs to separate any wings still stuck together. Continue cooking for another 10 minutes until the wings turn golden and the skin crisps.
  4. Coat with Sauce: Remove the wings and transfer them to a bowl. Add BBQ sauce or your favorite wing sauce and toss to coat each wing evenly.
  5. Caramelize Sauce: Return the sauced wings to the air fryer and cook for an additional 3-5 minutes at 400°F. This caramelizes the sauce and locks in flavor, creating a sticky, shiny coating.
  6. Check Temperature: For safety, use a meat thermometer to ensure the wings reach an internal temperature of 165°F before serving.

Notes

  • Do not thaw or rinse the frozen wings; cook them straight from the freezer for best texture.
  • If your air fryer basket is small, cook wings in batches for even crisping.
  • Feel free to substitute BBQ sauce with buffalo sauce, honey garlic, or any wing sauce you prefer.
  • Use tongs to separate stuck wings halfway through cooking to ensure even crisping.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste before air frying.
