Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 225 grams mozzarella cheese (cubed)
- 100 grams cooked turkey bacon (crumbled)
Chicken Mixture
- 450 grams ground chicken
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 120 milliliters buffalo sauce (divided)
Breading
- 100 grams plain flour
- 2 large eggs (beaten)
- 100 grams breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
For Frying
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the filling: Wrap each mozzarella cube with crumbled cooked turkey bacon, ensuring it is fully covered. Set these aside for later use.
- Mix the chicken: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and half (60 milliliters) of the buffalo sauce. Mix thoroughly to evenly distribute the spices and sauce.
- Form the bombs: Take a portion of the chicken mixture and encase one wrapped mozzarella and turkey bacon cube inside, shaping it into a ball so that the filling is completely enclosed by the meat.
- Coat the balls: Roll each chicken ball first in plain flour, then dip it into the beaten eggs, and finally coat it with breadcrumbs. Make sure each bomb is evenly coated for a crispy texture.
- Cook the bombs: Heat vegetable oil in a deep pan or fryer to appropriate frying temperature. Fry the coated balls for 5 to 6 minutes until they turn golden brown and are cooked through inside. Alternatively, you can bake them in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 18 to 20 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- Toss in buffalo sauce: Once cooked, briefly toss the bombs in the remaining buffalo sauce to coat them evenly and add an extra layer of flavor before serving.
Notes
- Make sure the cheese cubes are fully wrapped to prevent leaking during cooking.
- You can use either panko or regular breadcrumbs depending on the preferred texture.
- Adjust the amount of buffalo sauce based on your spice preference.
- For a healthier option, baking is recommended over frying.
- Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to avoid greasy bombs.
- These can be served with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
